Hi there, finally left Brisbane and arrived in Surfers Paradise on the sunny Gold Coast. Hammered down with rain throughout the journey from Brisbane but luckily when we arrived in Surfers it was beautiful. Stayed in a place just outside of Surfers, Aquarius Backpackers, really nice and only 20min walk to the beach!!!!
We stayed there 3 days and basically lazed about the whole time. Most days we spent at least 4 hours on the beach, our only exercise was walking there and back and fighting with the sea. Sea was so rough, really dangerous. Lifeguards wouldnt let you out past your knees as there were so many undertows. The weekend we were there, there were 2 drownings and 20 rescues- scary stuff!!!
The beach itself in Surfers is beautiful, probably what you would imagine when thinking of Australian beaches. Loads of people in the sea, surfers, sunbathers, loads of children building sandcastles and loads of life guard huts. The only downside is probably the masses of skyscrapers in the skyline everywhere you look. Its a very busy place and every building is some sort of hotel, holiday appartment or hostel (and everywhere was full!!!!)
Not really much to tell as we didnt do much but definately worth a visit xxxxxxxx
