Only a quick entry. Rainbow Beach and Dingos hostel was our launching point to Fraser Island. We chose it because its only a 7minute barge ride to Fraser compared to 40minutes from Hervey Bay. Not really much to tell. Beach was nice, but it was so windy you'd be covered in sand within 5 minutes of lying down. Rainbow was only small with a few shops and cafes so didnt really have a late night.
Only writing to describe our wonderful sea kayaking experience. As part of our package we had a 4hour dolphin sea- kayaking tour. I wasnt really looking forward to it as everyone else I know who had gone had ended up being stung by a jellyfish- and by now you should all know that im petrified of them. Anyway, we all got dressed in our lifejackets and had a quick demonstration on how to paddle and steer the thing. Into the sea we get and this is where the torture began. Me and Ben have been getting on brilliantly, but when it comes to team work- we argue! So we spent the whole 4 hours shouting at each other and trying to make our way against the tide. Why anyone finds this sport enjoyable- I do not know. Its torture!!!!! My arms ached for days afterwards!!!!
To top it all off- 90% of trips get to see between 20 and 200 dolphins..... guess what! We were the other 10%- we saw nothing- not a thing! So I endured for 4 hours of pain for nothing!!!! We did however see a giant sea turtle who had been hit by a speedboat and was slowly dying. Great end to an awful afternoon!!!!!!!
Nevermind- nearly christmas!!!!!
