We had been in Byron Bay for a few days and were told that the 'Grasshopper' tour to Nimbin was the best way to see the small town. We paid up $35 each and got picked up 10am in the Morning from our hostel 'Aquarius'. The guide was pretty cool but we did have 10 language students who didnt shut up speaking german very annoying. We arrived at Nimbin around midday and had a hour there. Nimbin is a small hippy town renowned for its drugs. They sell 'Hash Cookies' and you can lay your hands on just about anything. The police ignore it, it's kind of a silent agreement as they know its good for tourism. They have some funny things there such as they've changed shop names into things like 'Bringabong' rather than 'Billabong'!! Obviously as you know it's not me and Ria's thing to do drugs we were just there purely to see the culture as it's pretty famous!! We finished in nimbin around 1pm and a few of the german freaks bought a bong etc.....we then headed to the weekend market that was being held in a large field in Channon. Lovely place and the market was very vibrant with alternative techniques for healing, meditating and therapies...very impressive. We spent around a hour here and bought some small soveniours to remind us as it was very nice, we then headed to a nearby waterfall we're we could jump off pretty high rocks into the waterfall. Ria didn't want me to do this as knowone else was willing to do it...but you only live once and in I jumped feet first after that a few people had a go it was a great laugh obviously the germans passed it up..no sense of humour with them!! Last stop of the day was the Rocky Creek Dam that supplies the surrounding area's with water...it was very impressive and scenic we had a small BBQ here before heading back to Byron Bay where we arrived around 6pm in the evening. It was a really nice day and well worth the money we had a great time and think we'll spend the rest of the week maybe doing some surfing and having a few drinksxxx
