What an amazing day!! We were up early to catch our boat which was not the quiet chugger I was expecting. It was a cool catamaran which bounced and bombed it's way into the Bay and over to the town/port of Russell to pick up some more people before we were on our way proper. The Bay was beautiful and the islands were really pretty and ranged from tiny rocky islets to massive islands with $11 million homes on them! We didn't spot any dolphins or orca unfortunately but we saw lots of cool bird life and other wildlife including fluttering shearwaters, pied shags (tee hee!), Australasian gannets and brown fur seals. We passed cape Brett light house and even cruised through 'the hole in the rock' before landing on Urupukapuka island (try saying that when you've had a few!) where we took today's photo. After the trip we were back in Paihia for 'fush and chups' and a cider (first for a while!) in a cool water front bar. Thanks NICE girls for a great day!!!
