Hey Guys,
We took a trip down to the beautiful San Diego for 1 night with Mary's parents Frank and Frances and it was great. We left from Mary's Aunt Barbara's and drove which was a nice drive. The journey took us around 2 hours with a few small mishaps along the way but it was all good in the end.
San Diego is a beautiful place, we stayed in a Sheraton hotel which was located on the marina, it was great for me and Mary as we bunked in Mary's parents room just like we did in Huntington Beach (were getting good at that ha!).
During our first day we walked along the marina stopping off for lunch along the way (unfortunately we were too early for are favorite time- Happy Hour ha). After lunch we decided to visit one of the main attractions in San Diego the USSS Warship. This was fascinating to see. It was enormous, looking from the outside you under estimate how big it really is inside. We took an audio tour around the ship which took us a few hours. It was amazing to see the sleeping quarters which are extremely crammed and claustrophobic you get a real sense how hard the conditions were on the ship. We toured the roof deck of the ship were all the fighter jets were based and that in my eyes was the highlight of the tour.
Family and friends had recommended the Gaslamp Quarter to be a fun vibrant place at night so we thought we'd try it out. The original plan was to have dinner but by the time we had finished our first happy hour dinner was out the window and the partying had begun ha!. We had a good few drinks and a really good night. Mary and Frances enjoyed having a good dance.
The next morning feeling a little bit worse for wear we headed to Pacific Beach for some relaxation. The beach was fabulous and the weather was great as always. We enjoyed a nice American breakfast at Denny's then we walked along the beach front stopping off along the way to look at the amazing views. We spent the day down there before returning home back to Barbara's and Alf's.
San Diego was such a fun, vibrant city and would definitely like to return in the future.
