Thursday sunny with a cool breeze
We woke up to an alarm this morning for our last day in Saigon, it was terrible. Think I got a bit pissy with the drinks last night, it was so worth it!!
We headed off to meet Yen ( Kelly ) for a coffee after a big breaky at highland coffee. It was a nice long chat we had with her and great coffee. I had a filtered black coffee and condensed milk, Kim had an iced coffee.
After our 2hr coffee chat, yen helped us onto the number 01 bus which took Kim and I down to Cholon which is Saigon's Chinatown. I wonder if there is a Chinatown in China? It was a good 45min bus trip funny though the bus never comes to a complete stop for the pickups and drop-offs.
There we went to the markets and Kim bought yen a thankyou card. These markets were two stories and big if not bigger than Ben Thang. The shop workers were less pushy about forcing you to buy things too. There were alot of herbs and spices forsale which made the markets smell nice also.
After the markets we went for a walk to find a water park, but took a detour through the town. We passed a few nice bars/coffee shops. These coffee shops are so popular here. Doesn't suprise me when it tastes this good. We also passed the street version of bunnings. Each shop was it's own department, timber, tools, plumbing ect. Funny when it's all over the street. We eventually found the water park it was not bad looked fun, but silly us we didn't pack any togs, would of defanetly jumped in.
We then jumped on the back of some scooters for the return trip it was alot of fun a quick. We got dropped off out the front on Ben Thang Markets and I bought the bag I saw yesterday. It will be a good bag If it lasts as long as the old one.
We went for another walk around the city but we were starting to feel the strain of the last couple days and stopped in a park and crashed for awhile.
After a rest we hobbled back to the hotel and freashened up for the water puppets. It was very traditional a band playing old music, but funny puppets telling a story. We had a good time it was something different.
On the way back we had a nice meal of pho a homemade spring rolls which were fantastic. A couple beers all for about 6 bucks no complaints here.
We dropped the card off and said goodbye and thanyou to Yen, before packing our room before bed.
Up early tomorrow for breaky, checkout and a bus trip to Dlat. I'm going to miss this city very much.
