Well folks, i never got to do my skydive in Mission Beach due to the crappy weather, but i reckon all is not lost and i will attempt to do it in Byron Bay where it is also very nice. I'm quite glad i didn't do the skydiv in Mission Beach cos i seen the dvd of the company i would have been using (Extreme Skydiving) and it wasn't as good as the one i seen using Jump the Beach.
Left Mission Beach for Magnetic Island on the 31st August using the good old Oz Experience bus. Met some cracking people on the bus! We were heading over to Maggie Island just in time for the full moon party which was supposed to be a big event but i didn't think it was all that good. The music was a bit too housey for my liking but loads of people seemed to enjoy themselves cos they were out their faces! I stayed at a place called Base Backpackers which was nice. The dorms were like wee chalets but it was a bit of a walk to the toilets and it was impossible to shower without getting ur feet wet after you had dried yourself. All in all it was a nice wee place but Maggie Island is a bit deserted. The buses are like every hour and its a 25 min walk to the nearest shop so its best to take all your food etc with you. There are good deals for that place tho and the beach is just gorgeous. 320 days of sunshine apparently, so relaxing. Some of the girls stayed extra days and went to the Koala Sanctuary which was supposed to be good.
I was feeling a bit sea sick on the ferry over to Maggie Island as it was a bit choppy. We were on the top deck and got a bit wet! I got the most amazing chocolate mud cake in Horseshoe Bay. Everyone copied me after they seen it! Some of the girls from my bus had been travelling before to the likes of India and Africa where it is real travelling and none of this tourist malarky but it sounded awesome. Two of the boys are heading to India soon and im so jealous. Other people have been doing round the world trips and i've decided that i want to do that too. Everyone recommends Fiji so i think that will need to be included in my trip!
On Maggie Island u can hire wee moke cars to get around in because there is limited bus services and everything is so far away. They are well cool and look like wee golf buggies. Its fun getting a lift in one of them! One of the boys got pulled over by the police for a random breathalyser test tho which was quite funny. I imagine the police on these islands don't have much work. It's not like good old Strathclyde Polis anyway!
