Arrawarra is where we had our surfing lessons! Surfing was not something i was all that fussed about doing in Oz but it was a designated stop with our bus so i thought i may a well give it a go. I was still sore from my skydive but i did my best out their in the waves even though i'm a rubbish swimmer! We spent quite a few hours in the water and it was a nice day so we weren't too cold and didn't need wetsuits thankfully as they are NOT flattering at all!
Even though we had the soft surf boards, they were still bloody heavy to carry and very awkward! I felt like a right tool when we were gettin taught the stuff but once you were in the water we were glad to have had all the practice on the sand first. We had a professional photographer take pictures of us so we were all a bit self conscious but after 5 minutes in the water we were too busy concentrating on not gettind drowned that we didn't care how we looked in the photos! I don't think i managed to stand up and ride a wave properly but i did manage to stand up and then fall off under my board quite a few times! It was loads of fun but a lot of hard work. I think this is one of the activities i can say i've done but will never try again! The place we stayed was called Surf Camp i think and the staff there were pretty laid back and provided good meals. We enjoyed our time there but i had an early night as i was exhausted from all these sporting activities i'd done in the space of 24 hours!
