I'm on a sailing boat! This maxi sailboat was first on previous competitions, so I'm looking forward to my first experience! After a long bus ride from Cairns, we stopped by a port by Airlie Beach in the evening, where we boarded the sailboat and were given some yummy snacks. Fancy watching moonrise while cruising on the boat and enjoying a bowl of cheesy nachos! Many of us had planned to sleep under the starts on the deck, but the wind was too chilly, so we ended up burrowing in our sheets in our bunks. After a good night's sleep with the boat slighty rocking, we were woken by the boat moving towards whitehaven bay. It's time for some fun under the sun! We took a bushwalk to the lookout at the white silica sand that never gets hot because of the lack of impurities. We took a walk down to the lagoons where the stingrays and the baby lemon sharks are trapped because of the low tide, and took a stroll on the white sand. I took my gopro down for a few shots of the stingrays, and got a little scared when I saw the first pair of them because they were well camouflaged in the sand and I had bare feet! I took a few photos and planned to leave, only to realise that I was surrounded by stingrays everywhere! After some careful manipulation, I was finally free from them and I ended up playing some rugby games with my tour mates. Later, we sailed to Cateran Bay where we had snorkeling session. After some devouring our lunch as we were starving after some workout, we stowed our bags safely away because we are finally going sailing! We took turn helping to bring the main sheet and jig sheet up by turning the handlebars. Sailing is hardwork! We sat along the sides of the deck as we sailed across the sea back to the mainland. The wind was really strong and the fun part was when the sheet caught so much wind that the whole boat tilted so much the starboard side was in water! After some exciting couple of hours.. we're finally reaching our destination, South Molle Island. Can't wait for the adventure that lies ahead!
