It's the first day of my second Topdeck tour! With a heavy heart I lugged on my bags only to see Alan and Deano taking on another group! Aww. Met Jo at the reception as well so I bid these lovely people goodbye before leaving on another minibus with a trailer. There were only 7 of us in the tour! I took the chance of lunch at a shopping mall in Canberra to purchase some wool socks since I did not realise the temperatures were going to be in the negatives at where we were settling down for the night! We managed to visit the memorial and the parliament house, with PJ (our guide) giving us detailed stories about the assembly area, the prime ministers as well as some interesting fact about Australia. He is really knowledgeable! We passed by Jindabyne, which was a town living around a lake (there used to be a town which was then submerged because of the snowy mountains project - flooding the valleys to harness hydroelectric power). PJ also explained the fight between the two big cities, Melbourne and Sydney to be the capital, and that was how the national capital territory came about. Fancy a history lesson right in the bus! We arrived at the Thredbo Village of the snowy mountains by evening, and quickly settled into our rooms for dinner. It was a personal pizza and wedges! Everyone hungrily devoured our food, and PJ got us goon and some ski shots for some good fun in the cold night! Gonna warm myself up for sleep!
