We are back from Kruger! Words can't really explain how much of an amazing time we had. After a 6 hour drive from Jo'burg we arrived at the Moholoholo wildlife rehab centre where we got up close and personal with almost every African animal you can think of! Sarah had to be almost told to calm down when they told us we could stroke one of their cheetahs! After the tour we headed to the camp where we dumped our bags and had our first braai (BBQ). The next day started at 4.30am and we drove into Kruger on our open topped truck to see what we could find. Straight away we saw the backside of a cheetah disappear into the thicket. This set the tone for the day as we saw almost all of the big 5! The highlight for me was watching about 300 buffalo drink at a watering hole while a very large crocodile tried to sneak up on them. Even the guide was excited but unfortunately the crocodile didn't strike. That evening we had our sunset/night drive. The guide brought 2 cartons of wine (there was unlimited free wine every evening) and we stood and watched the sunset behind the drakensburg mountains. The night drive was a lot of fun but didn't see to much. We did manage to see a bushbaby though which was pretty awesome and at one point the battery in the car cut out leaving us in total darkness in the middle of the game reserve. The next day started the same as the last but this time we took a different route through the park. It was an amazing day which included seeing a female leopard eating an impala in a tree which had the guide uncontrollably excited, highlighting just how rare a moment it was to see. The evening got very boozy as everyone was excited about the last two days and it was a rough start at 5.30 on the last morning. We headed to Blyde river canyon for some spectacular views and then had an hour tour of echo caves with a guide who was absolutely off his rocker but very funny. All that was left then was the 6 hours back to Jo'burg which is where we are now. Tomorrow we leave for North Drakensburg where we plan to do some hiking for 2 days and maybe a trip to Lesotho!
