After an interesting nights sleep in our tent on the roof we decided to head to the apartheid museum and then take a tour of Soweto. Our guide Chico picked us up from the hostel at 9.30 and drove us to the museum. It was absolutely fascinating and extremely well done. The highlight being footage captured during the protests showing just how horrific it must have been to be black during apartheid. Feeling a lot more cultured and educated on the history of South Africa, we headed off to Soweto. Chico was an amazing guide and seemed to know everyone! Whilst South Africa still has a lot of problems we were met with nothing but smiles and thumbs up with people even wanting to pose with us to have pictures taken! After a trip past Mandelas house, the FNB stadium and a few eye opening areas, we stopped for some food. Everyone reading this will probably never have tried a "Kota" but the basic premiss is a sandwich. Except this sandwich has 3 kinds if meat, egg, cheese, chips(!) and potato in it. I kid you not when Sarah was eating it, it reached all the way from her nose to her chin! Pictures to follow!!! Having dinner tonight with an old family friend before heading to Kruger tomorrow!
