Phil has finally allowed me to have a go at typing on this blog... no pressure... just have to make sure im funnier....
After saying our fond farewells to Brian and Suzie we headed for Kings Canyon National Park in search of the monster trees!!!! General Grove "America's Christmas Tree" has the bronze medal title of being the worlds 3rd largest tree... whatever that means... basically it was big, but then so were most of the trees surrounding it so it was a little less dramatic than we had anticipated! Leaving the General behind we drove into Sequoia National Park... again home to more big trees.... This time it was General Sherman, the Gold Medal winning largest living tree on earth... pft! we've seen bigger!but maybe after Yosemite we are just a tough crowd... plus we were getting frustrated by a couple who had a canny knack for getting in our photos every single time.... Leaving Sequoia we spotted our first Coyote... more accurately we nearly ran over our first Coyote... damn wildlife!
Our evening was spent in 3 Rivers... actually one stream and 2 dried creek beds.. Found a lovely spot by the stream that served cold beer and delish pizza..... It was also having a jam evening starting at 9pm... Unfortunately i had a genuinely uncool moment at about 8:50 that made us leave at.. oh 8:55!.... But seriously, you would scream too if you put your hand in your handbag and a whopping great catapiller crawled out on it.... admittedly flinging it across the resturant at other unsuspecting diners was, in retrospect, a mistake. Oh well an early evening was needed anyway. Pitchforks at dawn.....
