Our first stop heading north was at the lovely Santa Barbara... I have been here before and loved it but it was phils first time.... The town is so sweet, it like most of California has a huge spanish influence in the architecture so the buildings are all beautiful white and red roofed jobbies..... Like most of our stops,... this one centered on lunch so off we went to the pier to soak up some rays and avoid birds pooing on us! It was fab and chilled out.... Both of us would like to buy our summer getaway here....
Our 1st evening on the Pacific Coast Highway trip was San Luis Obispo... a student town a couple of miles inland.... By luck we had arrived on a Thursday which is the weekly Farmers Market day, where the main road is closed and all the farmers and restaurants hold stores selling there goodies... Basically a street party.... Because it was the last Thursday before Halloween (never underestimate how massive it is over here!!!) there were kiddies, parents and weirdos everywhere dressed in costume... It was brill... Phil and I took prime position in the window of the Library Lounge (the least scary of the pubs we found) and people watched for the evening!
