What a delight to have Julie & Eileen join us for a week in Florence. Eileen's knowledge of and enthusiasm about speaking Italian has been a big plus. Julie can fluently ask for a glass of red wine.
We've wandered all over Florence together sampling the amazing Tuscan food, browsing in the stalls, and taking in the sights around every corner. Eileen remembered a friend she and Bridget had made who runs a leather store in Florence. We accidentally came across his shop and stopped in to say hello. When the shop keeper realized her friend wasn't there, he called, and her friend, Paulo, appeared minutes later. When we were done talking Paulo asked where we were eating. He gave us three recommendations along with who to ask for. 20 minutes later, having asked 5 different people where our restaurant was, we arrived to find that the place was under construction. This, despite making reservations the previous day. What to do? Go with Paulo's top recommendation. 5 minutes later when we walk in, who is standing there? Paulo. We all laugh and then have the most wonderful meal to date. The pasta with truffles is beyond description . Mark it down: Osteria dell Olio (Piazza dell'Olio, 1Or)
