It was all going well until we arrived at the ticket counter in Boston. Our flight had been delayed 3 hours. Good news: no layover in Madrid; bad news, would we make our connection to Bologna?
Our Boston-Madrid flight landed with 20 minutes to spare to catch our connection at gate K94. About 15 minutes into our race through the maze, we reached airport security. After completing the can-you-take-off-your-shoes-and-belt-without-losing-your-pants? event, we were informed by a very pleasant Spanish security official that our shampoo, sunscreen, and toothpaste would not be continuing with us to Bologne. We could, however, keep the deodorant--a lucky thing because the sweat was beginning to flow heavily by then.
We got to the gate 10 minutes after the scheduled takeoff to find a few passengers still boarding.
Whew.
On to Bologna. Except for one thing. Our bags would would not be coming with us just now. Perhaps tonight; perhaps tomorrow. Maybe they would be delivered to us in Florence; maybe we would need to pick them up. They would call us. We had no phone. They would call our new landlord.
A day later our landlord reaches Iberia baggage claim. Our luggage will be delivered tomorrow (Sunday).
But our first night in Italy ended with a delicious pizza from GustaPizza (Via Magio 46).
It's good to be here.
