I had another interview today that I went to after playing soccer of course. Soccer today was actually way more intense than it was last week, and I can tell even more by the sore legs that are currently carrying me around. And it doesn't have anything to do with there were only guys there today. Ok well maybe it had something to do with that, but who knows, it's a small sample size. So yeah I played soccer this morning and I actually took someone too, considering that I had my orientation this week and met other assistants and one of them told me that he likes to play soccer so I invited him to join us on Saturday. The game was really fun, quite intense, but a good game. It even rained for a bit. That was fun too. It got a little chilly of course, but it was nice. They even made me play keeper for a bit considering that we all had to take turns. So after the game I came home, took a shower and then headed out for this interview to give private lessons to two brothers (who live quite near the Eiffel Tower) and after spending about 20 minutes talking to the parents and realizing that it will mostly be me speaking to the kids as their English is not very good, I headed out and walked across the river to the closest RER station for the easiest way to get to Gabe's place. Just as I was about to go into the train station (it's one of the few that is outside) there was a guy who asked me (in Spanish) where the Eiffel Tower was. It was literally on the other side of the building next to us but wasn't in view so he obviously couldn't see it. So I responded to him in Spanish exactly that and he wasn't surprised that I spoke to him in Spanish, rather that it was just right there and he didn't see it. I thought that was pretty funny. Then I got on the train and went to have dinner with G. We had chicken and couscous, very nice. And we have a rule with each other that we only speak to each other in French except in two situations: 1, over the phone because that is incredibly difficult and 2, in emergency situations like THERES A BUS COMING, WATCH OUT, etc. And he lives in an international building (similar yet very different to the coop) and of course we must communicate with the people who live there in French (as the people that we met are from Brazil, Italy, etc) and all of us have come to France to practice our French. So there. That's all for now. Today is a lazy Sunday and it is raining outside. I'm going to meet up with Alice, a girl that worked with me during the summer and have some tea (she's English, it's only appropriate) and then who knows. Tomorrow I have an orientation in the afternoon, but because it conflicts with my teaching hours, I'm not going to school tomorrow and I'll be waiting patiently till 2pm for my orientation to begin. And I've heard that there's going to be a metro strike on Tuesday meaning that I wont be able to get to school. We shall see. As for now, time to enjoy the rain. : )
the photo by the way, is at the park where i play soccer. there are athletic fields and also a big "floral park" right next to it. and also a chateau, maybe ill use that as my next photo.
