It was a great idea to stay at the city caravan park for Australia Day. Just a short walk and we are in the city. No need to take the car in and worry about finding parking and paying for it. We were a bit worried that it wouldn't be nice at a caravan park in the middle of the city but there is nothing wrong with it at all.
So we spent Australia Day at Adelaide Zoo. We thought we would be out of there pretty quick because it isn't a huge zoo, but they had packed a lot in a small area. So we were not out of there as quick as we thought but had a really nice day. The enclosures are beautifully set up and both Max and Elise really enjoyed seeing all the animals.
Unless you want to pay $8 for a burger, bring lunch!
After the zoo we took the popeye boat to Elder park where the Australia Day celebration was going to take place. We looked at the parade, had some dinner, listened to the concert and danced (Jack Bucksin & Kuma Karo, Kaurna Cronin, Brothers3 and Sneaky Sound System) and then watched the fire works.
It was a really nice evening and the kids didn't try to run away all the time as I thought they would. They stayed on our little picnic mat almost the whole time and seemed to enjoy themselves. They seemed to enjoy the fireworks aswell, I was a bit worried that they would get scared but they were maybe to tired to care and just sat back and enjoyed it.
Afterwards we went for a really dark walk back to the caravan park. Have they not heared of street lights?
