When we left Port Augusta we headed for Peterborough to see some trains. They have a big museum there with lots of old steam trains, diesel trains and carriages. There was a tour we could have done but the kids where not in the mood for it. We just had a look at the trains that you could see without doing the tour. Max once again asked constantly if we were leaving. Lucky we didn't pay for a tour.
The road going south was lined with field after field after field for as long as you could see. It was sad to see some of the small towns that we drove through with half of the businesses and houses boarded up. Must be difficult living out there.
As we got closer to Clare Valley there were lots more trees but still as many fields. It was nice to see some more trees though and vines after so much desert. We got into Clare in the afternoon and set up the caravan and had a little walk around the caravan park. Then we headed into town and had some dinner. When we got back to the caravan park we went and jumped on the giant jumping pillow with Max and Elise. They loved it!
Today we just drove down from the Clare Valley to Barossa Valley. We are in a town called Tanunda. We have not been around to have a look yet, we decided to stay at the caravan park this afternoon and just let the kids play a bit. We went for our first swim, for this trip, in the pool at the caravan park. Kids had lots of fun and it was nice to cool down.
Looking forward to exploring the Barossa Valley tomorrow.
