Bonjour All,
Yes we made it after a LONG 22 hour flight arriving at 6.40am, bad jetlag and aching muscles but all that was forgotten when we saw the Eiffel Tower for the first time - WOW. It's much more spectacular than I ever imagined. Though the dirty brown colour doesn't do it justice it's a magnificent feature of imagination. It sits beautifully on the river Seine and is a beacon for lost tourists - yep just head towards the Eiffel !!
I hope the blogging on the site works and you get a copy to your email address as I'm doing this on my iPad and it keeps crashing on this site. Tell you what it was sooooo nice to be picked up at the airport after a long flight. Caroline has a driver who collects her guests at the airport. The apartment is magic and as you can tell by the photo the views are spectacular. Caroline was with us for an hour going everything incl best ways of getting around, different things to see which normally are not seen by the average tourist - she was a delight to talk to and when she left we felt as though we had known her for ages. The RER is a 2 minute walk, huge grocery/markets a 8 minute walk, metro 10 minute walk all in all it is very handy and out of the main tourist area - we LOVE it. We are right next door to the miniature Statue of Liberty.
For the first time ever I have swollen ankles after the long flight which has worried us and this is why we took it easy today: we unpacked, had a nap, did grocery shopping and took a short walk along the Seine. ATM we are sitting down in the lounge having wine, cheese and bickies watching the Eiffel. Already we have taken so many of the Tower. The yellow roses in the lounge room Caroline bought especiially for me as she said from our many talks she remembered me saying yellow was my favorite - now that's good customer service. We booked her through Home & Away web site and will definitely use them again.
ATM it is coming up to 9.00pm and the twinkley lights on the tower start so bye for now. Hope all well. The twinkles have started - arh sooooo pretty.
Bye Cheers Shell
