Okki Abroad
We can't believe that our flight back home is tomorrow! The time has flown by and none of us are ready to leave yet. Leaving the people will be very hard because we have formed a bond with many. The staff at Oloolua are all so wonderful! Ruth, Isaac, William, Judy, Batman, Hassan and many more of the people who were a part of the past two weeks will never be forgotten. I am already looking forward to travelling around Africa to help the orphanages and visit the beautiful qualities of the land with friends! Our morning was spent in Ngong, looking around the markets and having morning tea at a nice little cafe. We were trying to find a toy for Olli (the kitten) because he's so playful! We found a bus to catch to Karen and were waiting to leave, when a guy came up to my window. I won't go into detail but the signals he made at me caused Dad to knock on the window and indicate him to get lost. The man next to him couldn't stop laughing! Mum and Dad said that this is why you shouldn't ever go walking around a town like Ngong by yourself if you're a young and blonde Mzungu... We had lunch at a small bakery next to a shopping centre. We were in between a number of business and posh white people. It was so strange to go from the streets of Ngong to a place like this and we found that we felt more comfortable in Ngong than in a restaurant like where we were. After a lovely meal, we went into the centre to get some things from the shops. We then walked through the markets and bought a few more souvenirs and gifts. One lady tried to sell me an anklet and I tried it on but didn't like it much, so I told her we were coming back tomorrow. I feel bad because she's not seeing me any time soon again... The drive from Karen was very bumpy and there were so many people cramped in there, it was crazy! We went from Ngong back to Oloolua on picki picki's. Ever since Hassan told us that a huge number of drivers don't have their license and that the older drivers are usually safer, we have been very careful with who we pick. However when we approached some this afternoon, I saw one young driver that had the coolest glasses so I just couldn't resist. The glasses overpowered the fact that he might be unsafe! And plus, Mum had told him to take his time. As it turns out, Paul was a very good driver and great to talk to! He was super nice and the glasses were just the icing on the cake! We were packing this afternoon, it was hard to believe. I'm keen for the food on the airplane, though! And the movies! But we are all going to miss Africa like crazy. The people, culture and wildlife are unforgettable. There is no doubt that I'm coming back again! This is my last blog post and I loved the experience of writing so much! Thanks for keeping up with us and I hope you enjoyed reading as much as I did writing!
