Our day started with a bright departure from the very interesting facility for pleasure boats at Brunsbuttel. Perfectly adequate and an easy walk to the one street town it provided a simple and basic mooring function for those wishing some respite or unable to make the distance to the next mooring. Pleasure boast are not permitted to move in darkness and have to be in a proper berth at night.
We cast off and went straight into an empty lock, joined by five other boats the gates were closed and up we went to the Elbe. A brisk motor down against a slightly late tide and we were nicely tucked up in Cuxhaven. We had been told it was heaving with boats waiting to get out but held up with the weather, we found loads of space and no rafting albeit a few waiting for the weather which was destined to offer a breather the following day.
Supper in the yacht club and an early night ensured we would be ready for the German Bight on Wednesday.
