We have now arrived at our final accommodation-the Lalit Goa, ending our month stay with some luxury!
Arriving at the Lalit in a cab, the barriers don't go up till under the car has been checked with a mirror like device for bombs and such. Reassuring.
We are greeted by a Sikh guard with red and black outfit and turban and a twitchy moustache, they take our bags and put them through a X-ray machine- including poor bear. We are met by a lady who places a shell garland necklace type thing over our heads and we walk through a security entrance like at the airport. I don't mind this, makes me feel secure! The only time I have really worried about security was at the Dona Sylvia hotel, it was full of Russians and British and an ideal target for terror I guess what with all the crazy things happening in the world. Anyhow, security checks passed and a welcome drink and cold towel.... Nice!
The manager at the last resort in Agonda has a friend that works here and when he heard we were considering it he put us in touch and we secured a good rate- inclusive of breakfast and taxes. Trust me you need to watch these taxes as they say one price but you need to remember that there are about five taxes to be added on- about 25% in total. This is only in the luxury hotels and restaurants so we've not had to worry about it too much haha
We are offered a free upgrade to a pool view room so take that, the rooms are big! About three times the size of the huts we've been in. There's A BATH and a shower cubicle, hot water, slippers fresh soft towels and a white bath robe! The bed has really nice linen and a pillow menu! Ahhhhhhh bliss! D says to me "can you hear that?" I'm like what? He said "silence!" And he's right.... It's so peaceful. As much as we've enjoyed Agonda White sands- we were in a semi open hut metres from the sea and it's really noisy! I never knew the sea could make that much noise, sometimes it seems there was a storm outside but it was just the waves. But now silence. We are going to sleep well tonight!
We spend the day at the pool, Violet was literally running to the pool she was so excited. There are stone crocodiles by the side of it and she sits on them and kisses them, so cute.
She's basically toilet trained herself now and whenever she wants the loo she tells us and out the pool she gets... She's a clever little thing and so proud of herself! I usually congratulate her after each successful toilet visit which she loves but what this also means is she does the same to me! Loudly announcing my success and then saying "Good girl mummy! Goooooooood girl!" (((Pats my leg))) can be a little
Embarrassing if there's a queue. Haha
There is a swim up bar and we have a cheeky little cocktail there and then we have lunch and a drunken daab- a coconut filled with rum or vodka- Violet has a mocktail! This is the life! Certainly a good idea to finish the trip in luxury even if each drink and item of food is double the price and then has taxes on top too! Eeeeek.
After a spot of archery and a buggy tour of the 96 acres the hotel own, we go for dinner- out of the resort haha
After almost a month of Indian food and seafood we go for pizza! The chef makes it there and then and sticks it in the kiln type over. Apparently they are renowned for their pizzas and the olive and aubergine one we had was amazing. Infact we had two haha for the grand prize of 260 rupees each (£2.60) we have their home made ice cream which makes Haagen Diaz look like happy shopper rubbish. A few drinks each and a total bill of £17! No taxes! Stay in luxury and hop across the road to eat at 1/3 of the price haha
This area is very quiet, dark and not much happening. There a couple of women sitting on the side of the road selling these tiny fish (photo will be uploaded) they must be selling these for pennies and can't make much money at all- quite sad really. We ask her what type of fish they are but can't quite understand, I think she said 50rupees though as she peels one and shows us. We ask to take her photo and d gives her 100 rupees which she was delighted with and didn't expect or ask for. You get some people holding out there hands etc or sending their kids to ask you for money but then you get these laid back people just doing what they're doing but clearly don't have much. Quite sad in our eyes but life for them!
We sleep well, the bed was so comfortable and it was so quiet- just like home! I get up early and take Violet to the kids club and the park which was fun- aside from the very high slide V wanted to go on, after helping her to the top I said wait for me to get to the bottom to catch you.... Before I had moved one step she was already in a heap on the sand at the bottom of the slide! That slide was so fast! she was half crying and half laughing and trying to explain to me what had happened and then she shouted MORE and wanted to go again... Nutter. I had to laugh.
Breakfast was nice, a mad variety! they serve so many different things including steamed Lemon grass chicken, rice, cauliflower and broccoli gratin and black bean sauce along side all time favourites like waffles and pancakes eggs etc! So much choice.
Today so far, aside from eating, we have been for a swim in the pool! We have been on jet skis, Violet LOVED it and went on with both me and with D...
We've been on the driving range and hit a few balls, we've also wrecked the grass! Haha
Tonight we plan to watch the sunset from the hotels shack with a few cocktails...
Making the most of the last days and this 35Degree heat that we've become accustomed to.
