I woke after my awesome sleep to a text from Fiona asking what I fancied doing today and that it was pissing with rain. Hmm, this was going to be interesting. I agreed to meet them at their hotel and I went up to see their room - probably a mistake as I found myself pining for a bit of luxury like they had! I just sucked it up and we set off in the rain. We made it as far as the end of the road before we dived into a cafe for breakfast. Alan has a rather well paid job and after realising how tight a budget we were on, paid for our expensive breakfast! Score! We dragged this out for as long as possible but we had to give in at some point. I suggested we go out on a few ferries so we could still see a bit but stay dry ish. So we got the ferry from Darling Harbour to Circular Quay, then from Circular Quay to Manly. This took time in itself which was quite good. Being Scottish, Alan was a great source of entertainment, especially when announcing he 'needed a poo' quite loudly on the ferry. Childish but funny. I spent the best part of the day laughing, despite the rain and the pain/state of my face (which was now sporting a purple shiner). On the way to the beach we stopped at a small opticians to see if they could rectify my loose glasses problem. An old couple ran it and they couldn't be more helpful! So I now had tight straight glasses again which meant I could look over edges without holding on to them. We had a little walk up to the beach, then sat at the big blue pub in the middle for a couple of drinks while watching Alan blow $100 on a fruit machine.
We got the ferries back tithe harbour and headed off to get ready for dinner. We were tired after a wet day so it was only Fiona, Damien and I who made it out for dinner. We just had tapas on the harbour and then headed back for an early ish night. Definitely getting old!.....
