Hells Gate was our destination today. After leaving Abbotsford we stopped at Bridal Falls. It's about a 10 minute walk from the car park following the stream. Once at the bottom of the falls the sight is amazing, the water falls so finely over the rocks giving it the look of fine lace and to think how much water has been over the top without wearing the rocks away. We walked back to the car to meet Edna, who hadn't wanted to walk up the steep incline.
In the town of Hope, Bill took us to a cafe called the Blue Moose for coffee. We then looked at the wooden carvings which are placed around the town and Molly played in the park.
Our next brief stop was at a place called Spuzzum. Tracy and I had seen the name on a map and thought we would like a photo of the town sign. The sign was there but the town had burnt down years ago. ( it was only two buildings!)
Eventually the winding road, following the Frasier river, lead us to Hells Gate. We parked, bought our tickets and took the gondola down into the canyon. As we descended two boats were being guided through the whirlpool ( this is the place for White water rafting). Molly and I went out onto the suspension bridge where, through the metal grill, you can see the river raging beneath your feet. It was really noisy and windy.
There were lots of photo opportunities around the canyon. We looked around the shop and Molly had a cookie dough ice cream. Then it was time to move on but I could have sat there for ages looking at the steep rock face with the large amount of trees clinging to it and listening to the roar of water.
We stopped briefly in Hope for a light lunch before being whisked back to Abbotsford.
