It was really good weather when we woke up so decided we'd head into the city today to see the sights. We got the bus to Circular Quay and we walked around the harbour admiring the bridge - we could see people doing the bridge climb! The water in the harbour was surprisingly clear, we could see hundreds of jelly fish, all different sizes, swimming about in the harbour, we thought it was pretty random to see jelly fish in a harbour!
We continued round and there was the Opera House in all it's glory! We were both quite excited, it is such an iconic symbol and we were here, right in front of it! As we got closer we were surprised that it is more cream than white, it always looks white, even in the photos we've taken today, but when you're standing in front of it it looks cream. We've also both always thought it had a smooth texture but in fact it is made up of small tiles, like the ones you'd have in a kitchen or bathroom. It is such a beautiful building.
Next we walked through the Royal Botanical Gardens to Mrs. Macquaries Point, where you get fantastic views back on the Opera House with Harbour Bridge in the background. It would be the perfect spot for New Years Eve but we've got a feeling it'll be quite popular too so we will have to get there early to get a good spot and camp it out all day. We were hoping to get some great photos from here but the clear blue sky we'd had all morning was ruined as grey clouds came in out of no where.
We continued through the Royal Botanical Gardens to the Art Gallery of New South Wales and St Mary's Cathedral before going to Hyde Park to see the Archibald Fountain and Anzac Memorial.
We then spent some time in the city doing some shopping and saw the Sydney Tower up closer (as we had already seen this from the gardens) and also the Town Hall and Queen Victoria Building. After getting a few bits we jumped on a bus back to Bondi. We've had a great day but are both pretty knackered. Looking forward to watching Prison Break in a little while hehe! Nick is really happy as I cooked his favourite meal tonight for him, Enchiladas - a bit of a treat for us both. They were delicious, even if I do say so myself lol.
