We were meant to leave to go on a whale watching tour at 1130 but it got pushed back to 1330 giving us time to update photos and blogs.
When we got to the Pacific Whale Foundation office the wind was so strong, blowing at 40 - 50 mph!! We were worried there was a storm or hurricane approaching - great time to be getting on a boat!! It cost $38 each for the 2 hour whale watch.
We boarded the boat at 1500 and made our way out to sea. It was so choppy, very hard to stand and take photos. we saw quite a few hump back whales playing on the surface, waving their fins at us. The crew put a microphone down into the water so we could hear the whales, it wasn't as clear as when we heard them whilst snorkling.
Whilst we were standing right at the front of the deck 2 whales came right up to the boat, we couldn't get over how big they were! They were swimming around and under us. Nick could see one swimming upside down just under the surface of the water. It was amazing being up so close and we had the perfect spot. Very hard to take photos so we just enjoyed the moment.
The ride back was really choppy, we both felt very sea sick but we did get to see a couple more whales on the way.
