Nic's & Matt's Trip
Went to see Turandot at the Opera House.
The performance was really good, and the singer who played Calaf had such a good voice, he got a really good reception at the end.
The opera house itself is really disappointing. It looks half-finished and tired inside, with cement block walls and lots of brown and grey. The stage was tiny, which was a shame because it looked like the performers were really cramped, and the sets weren't as good as they could have been.
Also, hardly anyone dressed up so I felt very overdressed as I had (gasp) worn a dress and high heels. There were actually people in jeans and t-shirts, which seems a bit of a shame when you've spent 80 odd quid a ticket.
Was very nice drinking champagne all dressed up though...felt like I was rich!
