Neil's Round the World Trip!
I woke up around 10ish and listened to the English people in my dorm talk about their shenanigans last night. One of the girls went back to her guide's house (Inca trail guide).
I had breakfast with Matt and his friend Tanya from London. We then joined others such as Magnus and walked into a dodgy part of Cusco. We searched through the clothes shops for 80s clothing for the 80s party tonight. I eventually opted for "drug dealer" look and bought suit jacket, shirt, tie and aviator glasses for 7 pounds. We walked back into the city centre via the meat market which was interesting; pigs heads, chickens with their heads on etc. However the roads nearby were covered in rotting refuse; the smell was horrendous!
I went to the Cuban restaurant with Magnus and had some mojitos and the menu of the day. I then went to my Spanish lesson with Sofia. I chilled in Muse for the last time sipping on a great banana/chocolate smoothie.
I enjoyed my last lesson as we just had conversations with little grammar writing. I had a photo taken of me and Sofia as it's my last lesson. I then walked back to my hostel and enjoyed the BBQ meal although the meat was overdone; think 2 black coals on a plate with salad and guacamole.
I sat in the bar with Matt, Tanya and an American called Marshall (very U.S. name). We had some beer and then went to the communal kitchen and drank rum and cokes. We were joined in the kitchen by Magnus and an English guy called Mark. He was quite funny and his sarcasm reminded me of my travel mate Ben. Three English guys dressed up as Goldie Lookin Chain joined us. There was a young Northern Irish guy called Scott who joined us and told us some stories. He has a fear of flying and so takes valiums for the flight. However a side-effect is it makes your legs feel like jelly. So when he arrived in Lima he picked up his rucksack, put it on his back and then fell on his back. So he was lying next to the baggage rail like an upturned beetle, people laughed at him for ages until an old man picked him up!
We got steadily mashed and then ended up in a dorm with some Americans and Irish guys. There was an old hippy man urging us to smoke Echinacea(yeah the pills you can buy from Holland&Barrett to boost your immune system). The Irish guys kept shouting on finding out I was from Glasgow (they were drunk, bless em) "Stick the nut in yeeew!" and "Square go..ootside nooo!". We left them and went into the bar which was heaving with bodies. Everyone was dressed in bizarre clothes hoping it was 80s. I spoke to a beautiful Brazilian girl called Gabriela who saved me from Tanya who kept trying to dance with me (yeah I think she fancied me) but I wasn't interested in the slightest!
Me, Mark and a wacky Canadian girl walked down to Mamma Africas. The club was really busy but through the smoke and people I saw a familiar face; Milu. We danced for most of the night and then sat in the chill out lounge overlooking Plaza de Armas.
