Neil's Round the World Trip!
Ok today I got up and checked out of Loki Hostel. I put my luggage in storage and chatted to a Scottish couple from Edinburgh that know Chris. I walked to school and began my 2 hour lesson with Adriana. It was like a private lesson as the two other girls have gone. We covered complementing verbs (pronouns) (it, he, she, I). It was hard-going but I understood everything by the end of my lesson.
I then got a taxi to the airport to collect my dad. We reached the airport and I ran over to the arrivals. I saw my dad for the first time in 4 months and he looked visibly older (he said it`s because he has the flu). He was a poor wee soul and looked a little startled by South America; noise, Spanish, vendors harrasing you, speeding beepy cars etc. I shouted him over and told some annoying taxi drivers to piss off in Spanish. So we walked over to my taxi driver called Carlos. I chatted away to him in Spanish and translated for my dad. The driver told us about the elections in Peru, Cusco football team (Ciencado) and the Incan monuments. Also he told us about the annoying ATMs that only give out 100 soles bills so that no-one can give you change.
We went a different route because of a huge school parade in the centre of town (Peruvians love parades, they do it all the time). He took us a longer route back via my hostel to the hotel to avoid the parade congestion.
I picked up my rucksack at my hostel and then we continued down to Hotel Prisma. When we arrived outside the hotel, Carlos asked for an extra $5 than the agreed price citing the extra distance to avoid the parade. I was furious and refused and began abusing him however my dad stepped in and paid the extra money to avoid a scene.
We checked into our hotel and then unpacked our stuff. My dad wasn`feeling too well and so we chilled in our room for a few hours. We were both hungry so we walked into town to pick up stuff from our Inca trail operator via a few sights like the 12 sided stone and the Plaza de Armas. I took him to Los Perros for some scran, we got a table and mulled over the menu. My dad was looking a little green and rushed off to the toilet to wretch. I ordered wantons and beer had them and then paid the bill. I then escorted my dad back to the hotel and he rested in his bed (see pic in photo album "Peru"). I let him use my phone to speak to my mum as his doesn`t work.
I then left him sleeping and caught a bus to Pisac to see Vanessa and Chris. It was dark and the bus was slow going up the mountains. It seemed to take longer than before so I asked another passenger who informed we`d passed Pisac. So I had to get another bus back to Pisac.
I met Vanessa, Chris and her sister Milly in Ulrikes cafe. We then got driven by Vanessa through the dark countryside to her farm. We were greeted by her mum and the exuberant dogs (what I imagine Fergie was like Mum) jumping up on us and licking our face.
Me and Chris sat at the dining table and the girls made us a magnificent meal of steak and pasta. After the meal we watched a romantic film called "The notebook". It was quite good actually but a little too mushy in parts. We had some wine and then I went to sleep in my huge guest room wondering whether my dad was feeling any better than earlier.
