Neil's Round the World Trip!
I had a shower and checked out of the hostel. I flagged down an official taxi and spoke away to my friendly driver Jorge. He is going to help me book my flight to Cusco. We had a chat in broken Spanish for most of the journey. We arrived at the airport and I was told to speak to some guy. He then took me to the LAN Chile desk and I bought my ticket for 50 pounds. I had to give the guy a little tip as I walked through security.
I got my flight and arrived in Cusco in the afternoon. I read my Peruvian paper on the plane and munched down on my in-flight ham roll. The view of the Andes from the plane was spectacular!
I arrived in Cusco and got a taxi with a friendly driver who offered to supply me with cocaine which I politely declined. He dropped me off at my hostel called Loki which is built on Inca foundations. It's really nice, has free internet, views of Cusco as it's on a hill, home cooked meals available and big duvets (it gets really cold).
In my dorm there are some Kiwis who are recovering from a big night out (when they were doing some marching powder). There are also 3 Americans from NYC, New England and San Francisco. There are 2 English guys called Nick and Steve.
I feel a little out of breath and have a headache. I put my name down for home-cooked lasagne. I had a power nap and then got up at 9 ready for dinner. The meal was great and I had some of my sweet wine which is sickly sweet. I have a few beers in the bar and then head out with the English guys, Brazilian guys and a Norwegian girl called Martina. We went to a club called Mama Americas and had some free shots and drinks. Then we moved on to Mama Africas where we given free shots again. We danced the night away in the small, sweaty club. There are lots of dolled-up Peruvian girls all looking for gringoes to live off like parasites. I danced with the Norwegian girl and the Brazilians whilst the English guys spent most of the night in the toilet doing lines of coke. Me, Martina and Paulo went to a little restaurant at 3am and had some food then walked back up the cobbled hill which is exhausting!!
