A Semester Overseas
Today I had my music audition but it didn't go so well because as soon as I got up to the stage my reed cracked and I couldn't play. So I asked to re-audition on tuesday. But it's ok because it gives me more time to prepare.
When I took the U-bahn back to my apartment after my audition, there was a protest going on against a political party (see photo of stage). I wasn't exactly sure what was going on but it was interesting and there were a lot of tv stations filming it.
For dinner my roommates and I went out to a cheap restaurant around the corner from our apartment. Then Becky and I had to study for a German test tommorrow. Since we mostly had to study vocab related to ordering at a Kaffeehaus we thought- what better place to study than a famous kaffeehaus?
So we went to Cafe Landtmann (see photos)- a famous kaffeehaus which used to be frequented by Sigmund Freud and today, is visited by many actors from the nearby Burgtheater.
So I ordered a Franziskaner which is eine melange mit schlagobers statt milchschaum (a light coffee topped with whipped cream) and Guglhupf which is a famous Austrian coffee cake dessert. We are getting better at German because I think the waiter thought we were Austrians because we are getting pretty good at ordering.
After studying in the kaffeehaus, Becky and I walked along the Ringstrasse- a big street with many famous buildings- to the U-Bahn station. We passed the Parliament (see photos) and the Rathaus again. There were so many famous buildings on all sides of us so it was a very cool walk.
Famous Restaurants I've Visited so Far:
1. Blue Tomato
2. Cafe Landtmann
