On Friday my German class went on a field trip to a very nice kaffeehaus called the Palmenhaus to practice our ordering skills. It was nice because the school paid for us to get a free coffee and pastry of our choice. So I ordered the most expensive coffee on the menu called Kaffee Coretto. I wasn't sure what it was but I figured it would be good. When they brought it to me, they gave me a tiny shot of expresso and a huge glass of rum. I wasn't sure what to do with it so I mixed the two together and it was definitely not drinkable. The pastry that I ordered turned out better. I got a sachertorte (see photos) which is a type of chocolate cake. After the field trip, Becky and I went grocery shopping. Shopping in another country is very hard and it was the first time I had culture shock. But the good thing is that it was very cheap and all my groceries for the week came to 20 Euro. Not bad huh? Thanks for all the messages- it's been nice hearing from home! I miss everyone!
