The boys woke up around 630 am but managed to keep quiet until 7 as they were to be fined $1 each if they woke us up before then - money seems to talk (or not!!!!) with the twins! Tallis was waiting at our doorstep when we finally got out of bed and Annie went straight out to play with him in her pj's. It was lovely watching her roam around the paddock with the dog following enjoying the early morning sun. She chatted away to him the entire time and the dog looked like he was taking it all in!! We packed up and said goodbye to Terry and Peter and were on the road by 9am. We took the back roads to Tenterfield and passed lots of roos along the way and although Tenterfield looked lovely we didn't stop. We had planned a coffee at Glen Innes but again had difficulties finding a spot with the caravan attached and so ended up driving straight on through to Armidale. At Armidale we bypassed the town and drove out to Wollomombi Gorge, but we did pass the showgrounds on our way out and there were a few caravan camping there. It looked good and the plan was to return there if the National Park turned out to be awful. Luckily, it didn't! Green Gully Camp was revamped not that long ago and there are about 10 sites all with fire pits and plenty of wood. There are also toilets and water available and no generator rules. One other van was here as we arrived so we parked as far away as possible from them to give them some peace and then set up camp. We had lunch and coffee and then walked off to explore the Gorge and the Falls. All up, we walked about 5 kms along the Gorge rim passed the Falls to an awesome look out. It was a bit steep in places and the kids al began to complain at one point but it was very pretty and well worth doing. We came home and lit the campfire and while Nick and I read the kids built cubbies for their teddies from the woodpile. We cooked some spuds in the fire for dinner and for dessert toasted marshmallows again. Some wallabies came out to join us and didn't seem to be afraid of the kids shouts and screams!!! We sat around the fire until it was too dark and cold to sit out any longer and then we moved inside and had very quick showers. We put the younger ones to bed and then realised it was only 7 o'clock! Still, they seemed to fall asleep quickly! Nick and I began watching the last season of The Killing and eventually fell asleep to complete darkness and total silence - this is the life!!
