Happy Birthday Tom Savage! The kids woke up early due to the cold, especially Katharine who was reading by 5 am! We eventually got out of bed around 730 am and began to pack up. We were on the road by 9 am and drove into Armidale for a look around and a grocery shop. Armidale gets a slating in the Lonely Planet but it seems to have everything you need and we were able to park the van easily enough in the CBD. We found a really good shopping centre with hot coffee, Woollies and a bookstore - what more could you want!! We got everything we needed and were back on the road an hour later, driving through very pretty but dry looking cattle country - much more reminiscent of WA! We arrived at Walcha just in time for lunch, set up the van and began multiple loads of washing as everyone was feeling the need for clean clothes, a hot shower and clean bedding. We were allowed to pick our site and so we chose one at the end of the park next to the camping area so that the kids could run off and play without disturbing anyone. Next to us is a paddock with two cows in it and they watch us while we have coffee!! I spent the afternoon cleaning the van while the kids played and in the evening we had a walk into town along the river. We found a pub that did counter meals so we came home and rugged up and then went back and had dinner. The meal was a bit dodgy but it was nice not having to cook after spending the afternoon cleaning. The kids rang Tom for his birthday when we got home and then they all had a shower and hair wash before climbing into bed with a hottie - they were out in seconds!! Nick and I had to wait for the water to heat up again so we got sucked into a new show on the ABC (the code - very good!) and it was nearly midnight by the time we climbed into our nice clean bed!

chelle Tom was very excited to here from you all. He had a great birthday but did keep saying "well if Jonny and Matty were here they'd be coming, well i could invite the Mulligans, but they're not here!" boys you were missed...
