The boys woke everyone up this morning by play fighting loudly in the middle of the van. As a result they had their ipods banned for 24 hours and had to sit outside in the cold until I had had my first cup of coffee and re-found my sense of humour - it took a while!! Nick sent me off for a walk while he made everyone breakfast and by the time I got back I was in a better frame of mind…but then school started! Lunchtime couldn't come soon enough and once we were all finished we set off in the car to explore the other side of Port Stephens. We drove as far as Hawks Nest, a beautiful sleepy seaside town with a large koala reserve. We didn't see any koalas and were going to stop and walk the beach, which looked fantastic, but a huge black cloud was rolling in and a storm was imminent. Instead we went back over the bridge to Tea Gardens, parked the car and found a fantastic restaurant on the river that sold take away coffee. They also made the kids an ice cream sundae in a take away coffee cup so we were all kept happy! We walked along the Myall River until the path ran out and then headed back to the car. There was thunder and lightening as we were walking back but luckily the rain didn't start until we were safely in the car. It was dark by the time we got home and the caravan park had emptied out a bit. The boys missed their new friend from next door to play with and seemed a bit lost for a while so Nick made dinner early and they watched a movie before bed.
