Five months into our travels and we seem to have hit a bit of a slump. It could be because the winter weather has finally hit NSW and caravanning is never much fun in the rain; it could be because someone keeps stealing Katharine's things as last night someone took her trainers; (!!) or it could just be that this place is uninspiring - even though there is water everywhere it just seems flat and boring and busy after the green rolling hills and mountains of the south coast. This morning we decided to explore the coast so while Nick went into town to buy food for a picnic I got the kids to do a bit of schoolwork so as not to lose momentum. We left Blacksmiths Beach around 11am and headed south along the coast. We drove through The Entrance and had a look at the beach but the town seemed very busy so we kept driving. We drove to Terrigal and parked by the oval on the headland and sat and had our picnic by the beach. Once we had finished, bought a coffee and the kids had had a play in the sand, we climbed the steps up to the lookout point up on the cliff. While there Nick spotted two humpback whales not too far off shore. I saw lots of splashes and a grey back but nothing to take a photo of. We walked around the rest of the headland and eventually got back in the car and drove home via Gosford, getting back just after 3pm. The kids shot off to play on their scooters for an hour and Nick and I enjoyed some peace. Unfortunately a big thunderstorm struck around 4pm and we were all trapped inside for the rest of the evening.
