The view from the James Madison house is something to behold especially this time of year. There is a blanket of trees, changing colors, backed up by the Blue Ridge mountains. James Madison studied what type of government to support in those very rooms. The Madison's hosted Jefferson and Lafayette in that dining room. Madison was an intelligent man who is very much responsible for helping to create our system of govenment. Sadly, he also held humans in bondage as slaves even though he knew it was a stain on our republic. The Madison cemetary is marked with large markers and fenced in paying due respect. The slave cemetery has no markers, no names, no way to pay respects or even know who is there. My curiousity about Madison and Jennings (a slave) was too great and I did what I always do bought more books. Jennings took care of him until his death and was with him when he passed.
