Williamsburg historic district is a living-history museum with structures going back to the 17th century that allows a visitor to get the sense of what it was like in a colonial American city. The city celebrates the rebel patriots during the early history of the United States. Costumed employees work and dress as people did in the era. I noticed young visitors come dressed for the part as well. So much better than the Disney princesses. Williamsburg is part of the triangle of historic cities which includes Jamestown and Yorktown all linked by the Colonial Parkway. I was surprised by how many private residences exist along the main street. The houses have a very small plate on the door indicating it is a private residence. Not sure how good that would be to have streams of folks squinting at their door trying to determine if it is open to the public or not. Throughout the day they recreated scenes reflective of the revolutionary times, they turned visitors into cavalry, introduced historic figures such as Lafayette and Monroe (pre-Presidency) and fired a canon. What better way to learn the history of our country but to become a part of it?
