The Blues Festival could very well end up being my favorite part of my whole trip. The festival is in Helena, Arkansas, a tiny town with likely as many boarded up businesses as active ones. The festival is held on a block which at one time was the downtown with buildings of every kind and the remanents of what they once were. The Macon theatre is a historic building as it is one of the last remaining art deco builings. There is food and various vendors but most of all music. Music from one end of the block to the other ending with a stage with continuous performances. The seating is bring your own chair and continues with sitting up the levee. We arrived fairly early and stayed through the evening. Christopher, bless his heart, did all the driving. The music is still ringing in my ears and I have to ask Chris to help me download some of the artists so I can keep the memory fresh. Met Doug, a local, who kindly took our picture against the murals. this was a great day and a great idea from Chris. Bummer though CAL lost the football game and although I do not follow I wanted them to win for Chris.
