In the afternoon I took a short tour which included a visit to the capitol. The Austin capitol building is amazing. When you drive down Congress street the capitol is at the end of the street. The pink granite building is gorgeous inside and out. The picture is looking up from the first floor to the top of the dome. Circular staircases wind up to the top. Sunday my first stop was the Pecan festival held on 6th street which was formerly named Pecan street. The festival has food, vendors, music and everything in between. I got my earrings from Austin at the Pecan festival. I also dropped ten dollars and a kind man returned it to me.

In Austin I did a music crawl which took us to three different venues for good music and some drinking. I met a woman who had just come back from Paris. Her finance surprised her and flew to Paris for just 48 hours to arrange a marriage proposal. There we flowers, music, dancing and of course a ring and proposal. She said yes and they both flew off their separate ways - she to work in Austin and him back to his work. Her face glowed the joy of her weddi...

The last stop was Threadgills where a group called Deadeye covered Grateful Dead music to the extent that they duplicate concerts song for song. Deadheads attempt to determine which concert they are duplicating. Threadgills has a full restaurant and it seems the Sunday brunch is a big attraction. The music is played in an outside area. The second venue was the White Horse described as an east side honky-tonk. The band name was the Merles the only group to include a woman singer. The Merles played two step music and the floor quickly filled up with dancers. The dancers were very good and included a few instructors. White Horse is a young crowd coming to dance the night away.
