As we traveled closer to El Paso we move to the closest point between the US and the Mexican border. The US side is the city of El Paso Texas and on the Mexico side the city of Juarez. The difference in the two cities is stark. Juarez is full of shanty houses seemingly made out of whatever is available. The El Paso side is a large city with a major university and military bases.
