The Emily Morgan Hotel is a unique building not only in its shape but its history. At one point it was a hospital which included a morgue in the basement. It is said to be haunted with stories of ghost appearing in rooms, crawling into beds or playing with the elevators. I have not seen or heard any ghosts but I have one more night. The hotel is across the street from the Alamo. Emily Morgan is described as an indentured servant who may or may not have delayed General Santa Ana from reacting to a rebel attack that helped Texas gain independence from Mexico. Some suggested she is the inspiration for the song the Yellow Rose of Texas but I could not confirm. True or not true it is a good story. Texas has many stories of women having a significant impact and being recognized for them.
