There was a man eating alone at La Posta we made some small talk. He seemed OK so I told him the truth regarding my trip. If I have a hinkie feeling I lie. I use the, meeting a friend, a giant, who crushes people with his bare hands for sport do not make me pepper spray you or something like that. He was astounded that I was traveling alone and taking such a long trip. Said quit your job several times. "Boy I wish I had had the B@##& to do that. I know I did the pinched lips raised eyebrow look. It was just automatic. He noticed and said probably not the best reference. I agreed not so much but I understood the intent. How would he know this is my least favorite expression? It reminds me of the many times I have heard similar expressions during my 40 years of working, I used to ask my husband please tell me you do not use these expressions at work or lie to me about it if you do. The worse was when we heard you got some, well you know, to which I would reply no I don't but I have some ovaries if that helps. I can't imagine if women talked like this - I think she is great got some ovaries on her. I did understand his intent and with further conversation he said he thought it was brave to take such a trip alone and to leave the certainity of a job. So today I am a bit brave but also having a great time. Via con dios my new friend.
