Before heading to Springbrook, we went for a quick top up on supplies at the supermarket. We'd bought some apples for around $3, then we realised that the fruit shop near the supermarket sold the same apples for $1... time for Peter to step up and get us our money back. So he went back to the supermarket and found the customer service desk... 'excuse me but i apparently wern't meant to purchase these, any chance i can have my money back?' haha. We got our money back and then Lucy bought the same apples at fruit stall... Result!
After driving up the steep and bendy roads to Springbrook the first thing we came across was a fudge shop :-D... even though it was quite pricey Peter couldn't resist could he! The springbrook national park was stunning and it was also a scorcher of a day. We visited a few lookouts, some of them looking out towards the gold coast. The best lookout we visited though, was the lookout called 'best of all lookout'... this was an amazing view overlooking new south wales whilst we were still standing in Queensland. After some lunch next to a little river we went and visited a quite stunning waterfall called purling brook waterfall, where we viewed it from the top before trekking down to the bottom for a lovely view.
That evening we had a permit to stay in the national park at the settlement camp ground, as we were quite high up in the hills it turned out to be a very chilly night. In the morning we drove to the gold coast where we drove along the sea front before having a look around a shopping area, where we enjoyed some cheeky chicken wings and Peter stuffed his face with a vanilla slice! We also considered visiting one of the worlds largest casino's but we resisted the tempation. After leaving the surfers paradise region we arrived at burleigh heads, but unfortunately the caravan site was full so we had to carry on.
Our next stop was the area of coolangatta where we spent around 30 minutes looking for a caravan site, which we never ended up finding! So we went on the beach for abit before using the showers to clean up. Lucys thongs broke.... (flip-flops), so we got her some new ones.
We then crossed the border into New South Wales and found a free rest area for the evening, it was a driver reviver so Lucy took advantage of the free coffees! We did give a donation though.
