After leaving the rest area we had a short drive to byron bay, apparently a must see!! We didn't agree.... we found some free parking and had a walk around the town. We grabbed a hot chocolate whilst all we seem to see was hippies and wierdos!! The beach looked really nice but didn't bother going on as it was abit chilly and breezy. We later did a quick woolies shop before driving towards the lighthouse, where we found some parking near the bottom of the hill. On the walk from the car park we passed a couple of lookouts and Australia's most easterly point. When we finally reached the lighthouse it started raining unfortunately. On the way back to the car we got drenched... smart!
We then left Byron Bay and took the coastal tourist drive towards the towns of Lennox head and Ballina. By the side of a lake in Lennox Head we attempted to cook some soup... unfortunately it was way too windy and we had to make do with coldish soup!! Lovely...
Seen as we were still abit peckish we stopped at a bakery in the town and had a couple of sausage rolls (which were no where near as good as british ones) and a cheeky caramel slice. On the way to Ballina we stopped at a lookout, then we stopped of at a Dan Murphys and bought ourselves another crate of beer :-D.
We then headed south, where we stayed at a rest area just past Grafton. We had a quick pit stop at Little Italy on the way... At the rest area, during the night we both needed the toilet, BUT we didn't make it to the toilet as we heard some noises coming from some of the bushes.... everytime we shined the torch of the bushes , the noises and rustling stopped. We just wee'd next to the car!! haha
The following day we drove 30 minutes down the road where we stopped at halfway creek service station, and paid $2 each for a refreshing shower as we hadn't had one for a few days.
