On good friday we drove down the freeway and made our way into the city of Brisbane. Luckily the roads were quite quiet. Once in the outer suburbs of the city we stopped for some fuel... bacon, sausage and egg mcmuffin! We then located the newmarket caravan site, just 4km from the city centre. It was a nice site with very good facilites.
After getting our stuff together, we jumped on a bus into the city. Firstly we had a walk around the south bank side of the river before going on the citycat ferry which goes up and down the river. We enjoyed the views of the city from the ferry whilst sitting back soaking up the scorching sunshine. After nearly 2 hours on the ferry we finally returned back to the city, where we went for a walk along the riverfront before the botancial gardens.
Due to it being good friday there wasn't much open in the city centre, but it still seemed really busy. After a quick lunch we treated ourselves to some ice creams which we enjoyed whilst we began the 4km walk back to the carvan site.
The following day we made use of the facilites and got all our laundry done. Then we called out NRMA road assistance to come look at our car as it had been making some not so clever sounds. All turns out to be apparently fine according to the scottish mechanic! Never made the noises whilst he was testing it.... but did afer, typical!
That evening we enjoyed the glorious sunshine with some tuna butties on tigger bread, washed down we some beer and for Lucy some rose wine with lemonade, in a plastic bottle, the classy girl she is! haha.
Early the next morning Lucy rang Katie to wish her an aussie happy birthday, think Katie might have been a little confused but liked the thought that it was already her birthday in Australia.
We had planned to head out of Brisbane towards the gold coast, but due to everywhere being fully booked over the easter weekend we just headed to brisbane holiday village on the south side of the city. That day we went for a walk, ending up just walking around the car parks of a shopping centre as it wasn't open!! Later in the afternoon we went in the swimming pool, bloody freezing. It was funny though as we did different swimming strokes across the pool, Lucy mastered the doggy pandle whilst Peter attempted the butterfly.
