After having a very expensive start to Australia we thought we should try and have a few quiet days and try to get back on budget. So from Hervey Bay after Fraser Island we decided to take our time down to Noosa heads by stopping at a couple of free camping spots and do absolutley nothing for a couple of days. Heading to our first stop which was called Tiaro memorial park, we passed Mcdonalds and purchased a couple of soft cone ice creams at 30c each .. when reaching the rest area we set our table and chairs up and sat in the sun all afternoon reading our books. Going to the toilet was a little bit frustrating though as it was a very long walk, specially during the night. The following morning we had showers (after queing, seen as there was only 1 shower between about 11 people) and hit the road again.
One hour later just above Gympie we arrived at Chatsworth Park which is where we decided to have our second lazy day. This rest area was next to a lake but wasn't that nice to be honest but had a load of caravans staying there as they were heading north for Easter.
So there we have it two lazy days doing nothing, spending nothing. It was time to travel to Noosa where our original plan was to stay at YHA in Noosa centre as Lonely Planet told us they had camping spaces. When arriving at YHA we got told we weren't allowed to camp because he was only allowed so many people staying on campus at one time and that he only had a couple of beds spare in the hostel. Basically he only lets people camp when it is quiet so he is still making money. We were not happy. After a lot of discussion and decision making we decided we would see Noosa in a day and drive to the glass house mountains to stay. When drove up and down the streets trying to find somewhere free to park, it was really busy with surfers and tourists. Peter got a little impaitient when trying to find somewhere to park and considered parking at the end of a parking bay which he thought would be absolutley fine. After Lucy convinced him we would get a parking ticket if we left it there he then decided to move elsewhere. Eventually we parked further out and walked along the coast to Tea Tree Bay where there were loads of people surfing, it was a lovely day and a lovely walk. We tried to spot some Koalas on the trees but didn't have much success. When walking back to the car we passed another campervan parked in the spot where Peter was going to park.. guess what.. it only had a bloody parking fine on the windscreen.. THANKYOU LUCY!!
We then went into town where Peter tired an aussie pie (Cheese, bacon and mince..) Lucy had a bite and we both thought it was delicious. After all it was $5, so it best of been bloody good. It was the week before Easter and Lucy's Mum & Dad had given us some treat money, with this money we bought ourselves a creme egg each and a bottle of diet coke and coke. Yummmy!!
In the afternoon we drove the sunshine coast, stopping a couple of times to get photos and once to do a woolies shop.
