So we finally get a break from work for Christmas yey!! 2 weeks of not having to listen to people calling us Indians, asking for us to get 'someone who speaks English' to call them and getting screamed and sworn at...all good fun working in a call centre you know!! The Credit Crunch has arrived Down Under now too resulting in Michelle becoming unemployed (she's gutted honest!!). Oh we also got English chocolate yey!! Thanks mum's for the advent calender's and lolly pop's!! We decided after living in hostels forever we would take a trip to a hotel just down the road it has a bath and everything!! So we went to Blockbuster (the most old fashioned Blockbuster in the world and they even rent out pirate copies!!) got lot's of DVD's and Dominoes Pizza and had a night of luxuary! We went to see Australia at the cinema too, it was really good...bit too long for Michelle though, she was heard snoring!! We also went to Sydney Aquarium in Darling Harbour and got a glass bottom boat over the shark tank. Oh and we had our tea in Darling Harbour, we felt very posh. We also booked our Greyhound Bus to get us up the East Coast which is exciting as it is the start of our east Coast Adventure.
To get in with the festivities we decorated our room and had a Christmas tree and everything. We all did our Christmas shopping and put all the presents under the tree...so exciting. Oh and we all had our hair done too (thanks Matt) ready for the festivities! Also took a trip to Syndey wildlife world, climbing on lots of animals (not real tho ha!) Also Christmas wouldn't be christmas with out Mariah Carey and other christmas choooons + a very hot and sunny day + a box of Goon + Santa Hats = a very messy Sunday Sesh!! All good fun! Matty and Mike arrrived nice and pasty from! We also went to GMTV filming to send Christmas wishes home, Vicky managed to get herself on the tV!! When we were preparing for the Chritmas dinner Kirsty and Michelle went on the hunt for parsnips but they were all wrinkley so we gave it up as a bad job :-( we also stocked up on goon too. December also saw the opening of the new common Room at Rooftop, however it wasn't long before we got the TV childlocked and the windows locked because we were too noisey! We had a big christmas dinner on Christmas eve (there were 28 of us so was a team effort!). On Christmas day (after being serenaded with I Wish You a Merry Christmas by a drunk Matt and Amy P) we woke up and opened presents and then headed to Bondi Beach...Mike seriously needs to learn what sun cream is for...Lobster would be an understatement. We all headed around to Emily and Matty's apartment for Chrismas Day tea of pasta but were all tired out after a hard days sunbathing.
We also went up the Sydney Tower and the Skywalk which is a glass platform that extends out from the side of the building. the views were amazing. Leslie and Kirsty left Rooftop so they came and crashed in ours for a bit...all Leslie wanted was Eggs!! That is all we heard all morning so Kirsty took a trip to Le Petit Tarte to get her some to shut her up! Vicky also decided to cook Fajitas for the hostel too. Oh and we had another delivery from home...Adele, just in time for the New Years Celebrations!!
On New Years Eve we headed to Balmain with lot's of beer. We had a fab view of Sydney Harbour Bridge. We chilled out in the sunshine and watched the first lot of fireworks about 9pm. When it got to midnight we all got our places at the side of the water to watch the fireworks, they were AMAZING!! It was such a good way to see 2009 in! So thats it for 2008!!
