Day 2: It's hot and getting hotter!
After dinner last night I set off in search of somewhere to set up camp for the night. I didn't have far to go before I found a little nature reserve just off the strawberry line in the mendip hills.
Not wanting to be too conspicuous, I waited until it got dark then strapped my tarpaulin to my bike, secured it to a
bench and made myself ready in my bivvy bag underneath with my feet poking out into the open air. Head torch on, book open, five minutes later fast asleep.
I slept quite well until about 3 o'clock and then got a bit chilly so had to put on a t-shirt.
I was woken up with the sun this morning and back on the bike by 7:30!
Today I managed 36 miles mostly along cycle route 3 which took in some very English countryside: oak trees and meadow type stuff. This was in direct contrast to a chavvy estate I had to negotiate in bridgewater. Could see some of the negative effects of the sunny weather.
Check my route and pictures here http://runkeeper.com/user/mikecromey/activity/103996129
I'm now with friends at Emily and Tom's wedding venue, Huntstile farm. Beautiful. My tent is set and im ready for night number two.
Ps. Also showered today which was lush!!
